First, put on an unpadded, wired bra and grab a cloth measuring tape. Stand in front of a mirror and wrap the tape around your back at the band level. Keep it straight and measure just above your bust where the straps meet the cups. The band provides most of your bra's support, so be sure to pull the tape measure tight against your back.
If you land on an odd number, round down to the nearest even number. This is your bra band measurement. Next, keep the tape around your back at band level and hold it more loosely than the other measurement. Measure the fullest part of your bust gently without compressing. If you land on a half inch, round up, and you've found your bust measurement.
Plug these two numbers into our bra size calculator, and we'll find your correct size.
Bra fit is a combination of two elements: Size and style. It's normal for your breast size and shape to fluctuate regularly, so your bra may be less comfortable some days than others. A well-fitting bra's straps, band, and cups should all be comfortably snug most of the time.
If you regularly adjust throughout the day to keep it from feeling too loose or too tight, you might need to retake your bra size measurements or find a new style that complements your breast shape.
The most important part is the band. A bra that fits will have a band that sits snug and straight against your body. If it digs, leaves marks, or rides up your back, you might need a size adjustment.
The cups should comfortably contain your breast tissue. If the fabric is digging, causing spillover, or gaping at the top of the cups, then you likely need a size adjustment.
Lastly, if your straps dig in or slip off your shoulders throughout the day, this could also be a sign you’re in the wrong size or need to adjust your fit.
Your bra cup size isn't a static measurement of your bust. Your band and cup work together to contain your breast volume. On a bra size chart, you'll see everyone has "sister sizes" where the cup volume is the same even though the numbers and letters change. Keep in mind most brands' breast sizing charts differ slightly.
